Study Shows Blocking Brain’s ‘Internal Cannabis’ May Trigger Early Alzheimer’s Deficits…

Alzheimer’s disease is the leading cause of dementia among the elderly population in Canada. According to Stats Canada “Dementia is the most common type of neurodegenerative disorder. In 2010 an estimated 35.6 million people worldwide were living with dementia, a number that is expected to double in 20 years!”

At present this is no cure for Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, nor are there any medications that can stop the progression of this disease… Now a new study led by investigators at the Stanford University School of Medicine has implicated the blocking of endocannabinoids — signaling substances that are the brain’s internal versions of the psychoactive chemicals in marijuana and hashish — in the early pathology of Alzheimer’s disease….
