Cannabis:Possible Treatment for Lupus?

Lupus is a chronic disease with a variety of symptoms caused by inflammation in one or more parts of the body. And according to the Lupus Canada It is estimated that Lupus affects over 1:1000 Canadians. Lupus is not contagious and is not related to AIDS or cancer. It belongs in the family of diseases that includes rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, juvenile diabetes, and scleroderma.

Although this list is far from complete a patient with this health condition may experience:

  • Debilitating fatigue
  • Pains in the chest which become worse when prone or when inhaling deeply
  • Swelling of the extremities (hands and feet)
  • Sensitivity to sunlight
  • Seizures
  • red rash across upper cheeks and nose
  • Joint pain with possible swelling, redness and feeling of heat
  • A rash (red and scaly)
  • Mouth sores
  • Hair loss
  • Anemia
  • Weight loss
  • swollen lymph nodes

There is no cure for Lupus and the treatment protocol will depend on which symptoms are being treated and the severity of the symptoms. Medications range from mild inflammatory drugs to very powerful steroids. Unfortunately, most conventional treatments available also come with a list of (potential) negative side effects.

As an alternative to conventional medications, Medicinal Cannabis may be an effective treatment for Lupus due to its anti-inflammatory and powerful analgesic (relieves pain) properties. The inflammation caused by this disorder can cause considerable pain in the hands and knees of Lupus patients and medicinal cannabis can decrease the inflammation and swelling thus relieving the pain. As for any symptoms affecting the skin, a medicinal cannabis topical product can be a very effective treatment.

Hello I will send you an email with some product information… we are not an LP so you can order from our store if you are at least 19 years of age, a resident of Canada and have a condition you wish to treat with medicinal cannabis.
