Medicinal Cannabis Treatment for Psoriasis…

According to the definition from MNT “Psoriasis is a dry, scaly skin disorder. It is a common, chronic, autoimmune inflammatory disease that affects more than 127 million people worldwide. Research suggests that it happens when the immune system mistakenly goes into action and starts producing skin cells too quickly.”

Because Psoriasis is autoimmune in nature, Medicinal Cannabis appears to be particularly effective as a treatment for psoriasis. The plant cannabinoids can work directly with the receptors of the body’s endocannabinoid system.  Cannabis has also been shown to be effectively target inflammation without the harmful side effects of pharmaceuticals.Because of its powerful analgesic properties Medicinal Cannabis also appears to be very effective of relieving the pain and discomfort most psoriasis patients deal with on a daily basis.

The Journal of Dermatological Science  published a study from (2007) showing that cannabinoids appear to be beneficial in the prevention of dead skin cells forming, as well as other psoriasis symptoms. As per the study… “Our results show that cannabinoids inhibit keratinocyte proliferation, and therefore support a potential role for cannabinoids in the treatment of psoriasis.”
