Amnesia Haze is perhaps one of the most awarded sativas that have been developed ever. First prize at the Cannabis Cup in 2004, first prize again at the Sativa Cup in 2012, and a consistent part of the Amsterdam coffeeshops ever since then. Amnesia Haze’s genetics can be traced back to the landrace genetics of South Asia and Jamaica.

Genetics

Lineage involving South Asian and Jamaican landraces merged with Haze. The landrace provides it with the citrus aroma terpene and sativa-type growth pattern. Years of being a winner in the Cups kept the strain available even when other strains of that period are no longer around.

Effects

Jolly, high, social. This is not marketing, this is what people actually say. It starts fast and it is very social, more laughing with friends than focused concentration. Energy is maintained throughout without sedation on the end.

At 19% THC, this is a moderately potent strain that doesn’t hit the extremes. Something else to note is that paranoia and dizziness are the side effects reported by many, and thus this is one strain that needs to be consumed carefully. This strain is mostly taken for anxiety and stress.

Aroma and Flavour

The dominant flavors in this strain include citrus, lemon, and lime. The first flavor is due to limonene, while the second flavor is produced by myrcene and forms the earthy base. Finally, caryophyllene provides the spicy peppery taste.

The odd thing is that myrcene has a sedative profile, but when combined with limonene and caryophyllene, it becomes an energizing strain. Ratios of terpenes are more important than individual components.
